On the left is a picture of me outside the first house I lived in, actually a trailer home. We were one of ten families in a small community associated with a bauxite mining operation in Cabo Rojo, Dominican Republic. Only one generation of children grew up there. The families gradually moved away as the children outgrew the one-room elementary school. The trailers are gone now but Cabo Rojo remains a strangely beautiful place. I enjoy traveling. Here are some maps showing the places I've been, and here are some pictures from trips to Montréal and Maui. I have several thousand other travel photos, but I can't seem to get around to organizing them. I like getting close to wildlife. Here are some pictures from a visit to a sea-turtle research and conservation project in Isla Culebra, Puerto Rico. I've also helped out with a similar sea-turtle project in the area around Cabo Rojo. Here are some dolphins I met off the Bahamas, and some orcas I went to see in British Columbia. I love the sea and can never spend enough time on the water, particularly on sailboats. Here are some pictures taken on a sailing trip to the Windward Islands, an account of an exciting incident with a spinnaker, and my sailing résumé. I live in New York, where among other things I've enjoyed these views of the city from an old apartment. Tragically, a big part of the skyline is no longer there. Finally, here are some quotes that I find true, funny, or just well put. |
